Feeds
The internet is a wonderful thing. Or at least, in some regards. What makes it even more wonderful is when new technology comes along and makes it simpler for people to access the content people like me randomly throw at it. First, we had BBS, which was cool. Then we moved to the world of HTML, which allowed text to be rendered on a page, and for people to have their own internet site for others to visit. The advances website technology has made since then are astounding, right now we’re seeing websites that work and function exactly like stand-alone computer programs, all thanks to clever scripting and the ever-increasing power of computers. One big advance, which is the main point of this page, is one called XML, which basically allows us to define our own markup schemas and define our own elements, making what we can do on computers seemingly limitless. It has given rise to such things as XHTML (which this site uses), and, a cool function known as feeds. What a feed does is basically allows a user to subscribe to content from a website, and receive up-to-the-minute updates on-demand. What makes that even cooler, is this can be done automatically, and, the amount of softwares existing to access this content is increasing by the day. This truly is a golden age for the internet.
What does this have to do with anything? A lot, actually. You see, this website (along with any other website powered by Wordpress) has capability for feeds built-in, right out of the box. So, that means you can listen to my asinine drivel in even more ways!
- Basic RSS2.0 Entires Feed, which is all of my latest main-page entires
- Basic RDF/RSS1.0 Entries Feed which is more of the same
- Basic RSS0.92 Entires Feed, once more, the same served in RSS0.92
- Basic Atom Entires Feed, for those who’re so inclined
- Basic RSS2.0 Comments Feed, which provides all the latest comments
annnnnddddd, lastly,
Also, every page has a feed on it also. There’s links for the feeds on each individual page. Enjoy the content, enjoy XML.
